The Beatles - Their Early Years

The Beatles, an English rock and pop group formed in Liverpool in 1960, became one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. The group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals), and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals).

Beatlemania exploded in the United States in February, 1964, when they arrived at JFK airport and were greeted by thousands of screaming teenage girls. They appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show later that week to an audience of 73 million people, still one of the highest-rated programs of all time.

The Beatles were active from 1960 to 1970 and are the best-selling group of all time, with worldwide sales exceeding 1.3 billion records.
